Amnesia Runner

The reading goal I've set for myself is nine books, so far I have read two and a half books. In total I've read 850 pages and read for about nine hours. I try to read 30 minutes a day. It took me much a longer time to finish this book, because it was borrowed from my friend in class, I couldn't take it home and read at home and it took me two weeks to finish it.

In the start of Maze Runner by James Dashner, the main character finds himself in an area surrounded by a maze with about fifty other boys he doesn't know. He can only remember that his name is Thomas, he has no other memories.

The way James Dasher is describing Thomas' lack of memory is in a very sad and serious way that makes it sound horrible. As the story goes on Thomas begins to remember the basic parts of a normal person's life but he can't remember himself with those things or other people from his past. I think this is what having amnesia because of the way James describes Thomas trying to remember and only getting very vague memories of an of a normal life, for example Thomas remembers the concept of parents, homes, and ice cream, but can't remember his parents, home, or ever eating ice cream. James might have had an experience or a family member who had with an experience with amnesia. Using this story James is stating how bad amnesia is and that having it is like being trapped in a maze. James proves this farther by continuing the book's plot using Thomas' amnesia as a familiar feelings that Thomas uses to make his choices. Near the end of the book Thomas regains his memory and figures out how to escape the maze.

Reading Blog

My name is Jake Flores, I am 15 years old, I go to Hebron High School where I am a sophomore. I live with my mom, dad, two of my brothers, two cats, and two dogs in Carrollton, Texas, where I have lived my whole life. I have been in boy scouts since I was ten and I became a Eagle scout this year in August. I became a Eagle Scout this year on August 12. In my family I am the tallest of us followed by my mother.

I do not read very much but when I do read it is mostly fiction (or for school) I am currently reading the maze runner. I plan on read two nonfiction books and the lord of the flies for school, as well as an AP book. I don't know what I'll read after finish those books, probably more fiction.
